The Client’s defense is being handled by a team of attorneys led by
Dmitry Pozin, Senior Partner of Belsky & Partners, and
Daria Sazontova, Junior Partner of the Firm.
The Client was accused of acting as an intermediary in the giving of a bribe to a high-ranking judicial official in exchange for a favorable court decision (Article 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
The Bureau’s attorneys developed and implemented a comprehensive defense strategy at the stage of preliminary investigation, successfully proving that no transfer of funds to court officials had taken place.
During the proceedings, the defense engaged independent experts who confirmed that the Client had in fact provided legitimate legal services in the field of real estate under a valid contract and had not engaged in any corrupt practices.
Through the diligent efforts of the Bureau’s legal team, it was established that there was no evidence of bribery. As a result, the charge was reclassified from bribery mediation to fraud (Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
At the appellate stage, the defense succeeded in achieving a significant reduction of the sentence: the term of imprisonment was reduced by one year and subsequently replaced with compulsory labor.
At present, the Client has been released from serving the sentence due to the application of parole (conditional early release).
