Confidentiality
Lawyers have to work with large amounts of confidential information: information on transactions, know-how, secret documents, court documents, correspondence, and information that carries criminal law risks. We guarantee attorney-client privilege and prioritize confidentiality without adverse effects for our clients.
We securely protect our clients' data. Drawing on our experience in criminal cases involving cybercrime, and in collaboration with data protection specialists, we have developed a specialized training program which has proven successful with colleagues from leading Russian law firms.
In Russia, attorney-client privilege is protected by law. Lawyers are special participants in the criminal justice system. This means that a lawyer cannot be questioned about circumstances that they became aware of in the course of working with a client. Moreover, a search of a lawyer’s premises is an extraordinary event and must be authorized by a regional court. We maintain our records in accordance with our own internal regulations and the recommendations of the Russian Federal Bar Association, ensuring attorney-client privilege to the fullest extent.
When it comes to security — and we consider confidentiality to be a matter of security — even professionals need to constantly review the basic rules. All members of our team are thoroughly briefed and sign legally binding documents covering confidentiality issues, including restrictions on discussing cases with third parties and journalists without the client’s consent. Employees are prohibited from taking photos in the office and posting them on social media, as these photos may contain confidential data.
Pro Bono
Providing legal assistance to those who cannot afford it is very important to us. Based on the pro bono principle (from the Latin pro bono publico — "for the public good"), we advise charitable and religious organizations and provide free legal assistance under special programs run by the Moscow Bar Association and the Moscow branch of the Association of Lawyers of Russia.
